We Seven met at the appointed time at the Irvine Metro Station, most of us arriving by train.
A short spirited ride in local traffic and we entered the first of the dirt, Serrano Creek Park. With the Automobiles behind us the joy factor was exponential. We steadily climbed up into Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park and dropped into O’Neill State Park around Dusk. Waiting for us at site # 37 was Doug & Ian with refreshments. Shelters were hastily erected and Hanger 24 was enjoyed. Hungry we headed out to Rose’s Cantina for a fine Mexican meal and conversation.
In the morning bright and early camp was deconstructed and a short climb ensued to the local eatery Latte Da Bagelry for more fine food, coffee and conversation. There was lots of bike talk with the appropriate amount of future ride planning. With full belly’s we were ready for another day of dirt riding. It was sold as mostly all downhill! Well sort of, there was still some climbing to be had and water crossing too!
All in all this was a spectacular time in the saddle, the weather was overcast! Ideal cycling weather in my opinion. The single track on both days was so fun I had zero inclination to stop and take pictures. The camaraderie was as always A+. We had one mishap! One of us went down going through a hard to see patch of mud, but his dignity remained intact as it could happen to any of us. No bones were broken in the documenting of this adventure!
As always thanks for looking and keep the rubber side down.
